Helping Customers, Helping Our Communities
Sure is the very proud sponsor of the Customer Service Awards in both Jersey and Guernsey. Following the success of the awards ceremony in St Peter Port in July, last week saw Jersey take its turn to recognise the people who go that extra mile for their customers, with an awards ceremony held at the RadissonBlu Hotel, St Helier.
For me, the Sure Customer Service Awards are one of the most important events in the business calendar because they’re one of the most inclusive awards.
Anyone who works with customers is eligible to be nominated, regardless of their position in the organisation and this means that it really is those people on the frontline who find themselves put forward for acknowledgment.
Thousands of nominations
The open nature of nominations means that we receive an incredible number of suggestions, this year more than 10,000 were submitted in Jersey alone. In an age that makes it easy to complain via social media and other channels, it’s wonderful and heartening to know that islanders really value and recognise good customer experience.
This year, the range of award nominees was extensive. From large teams to sole traders, the whole gamut of public and private sector organisations was represented. By winning three awards, the team at Liberty Bus did particularly well at the 2017 awards.
Quite rightly, the staff at Liberty Bus were recognised for both their diligence at work, many of them starting their days at 5am, when most of us are still asleep and for the excellent customer service they offer bus passengers via the customer service desk in the terminal, on the buses themselves and also via their phone lines.
With 12 award winners, there are too many to write about here but you can see the full list on the Customer Service Awards website.
Remembering a believer in great customer service
From Sure’s perspective, there was one new award this year that is very special to us as a company - the Eddie Saints Memorial Trophy for Entrepreneurial Spirit. Eddie was CEO of Sure in the Channel Islands and sadly passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. He is missed enormously by everyone who worked with him and we have inaugurated the award in memory of him and his inspirational style of leadership.
This year’s winner was Cameron Elliott of Physique Transformations. Cameron started his business at a young age and his ambition and determination to succeed are qualities that Eddie would have appreciated highly. However, it is Cameron’s dedication to his clients that really stood out, particularly his support for them as they work to get the best from themselves both physically and mentally.
I know Eddie would have been delighted to see Cameron receive the award and he’d certainly have been impressed by the high standard of customer service that was represented by all the nominees and award winners.
Thank you Julie!
There’s no doubt that this year’s Sure Customer Service Awards have been a great success and whilst these are the last awards that Julie Todd will be organising, we’re already looking forward to next year’s and would like to thank Julie for all her hard work organising the competitions in both islands for the past seven years.
The Sure Customer Service Awards offer an opportunity to pay tribute to everyone who makes a huge contribution to our island communities by delivering a great customer experience. On behalf of Sure, I’d like to thank everyone who was nominated for helping to ensure these islands are such wonderful places to live.
